Athletes building for athletes
TrackSpeed was born on the track. We're active competitive athletes who got tired of inaccurate timing tools — so we built our own.
As track and field athletes training at the highest level, we needed accurate timing for our sprints and approach runs — but the options were either expensive laser gate systems with inconsistent trigger points, or a coach with a stopwatch and human reaction time error. Neither was good enough.
We realized that the phone in everyone's pocket already had the hardware to solve this — a high frame rate camera, precise gyroscope, and enough processing power for real-time computer vision. So we built TrackSpeed: a timing system that uses frame-by-frame motion detection and sub-frame interpolation to deliver millisecond-accurate results, no extra equipment needed.
